ARE YOU STANDING IN THE GAP OR ENLARGING THE BREACH?
Part of our responsibility as followers of Jesus is to pray for God’s intervention in the lives of others. The idea of “standing in the gap” comes from Ezekiel 22:30. The Lord looks for a man who will stand in the gap. He told Ezekiel, "I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one. (Eze 22:30). There have been times when the Lord could find no man to stand in the gap. “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.” Ezekiel 22:40

When we stand in the gap in prayer, we pray for God’s help, mercy, intervention and/or forgiveness on the behalf of individuals. So today, pray for someone who does not yet follow Jesus. Ask God to intervene in their life. Also pray for a fellow Christian who is suffering hardship. Ask God to comfort and empower him or her.
